Music Video Plan

Chosen Track: My chosen track is ‘Is This It,’ by the Strokes. I feel this track reflects the mood and theme I am aiming for in the video as the song is slow paced and matches the nature of the video. The chorus of ‘is this it,’ presents a feeling of longing- which reflects the feelings of the music video as it touches on themes such as vagrancy- where these people are desperate for anything they can get.

Projected number of shoots: There will be 1 main shoot for the video- with background props being the variable which is changed in each. By having 1 shoot only- it will keep continuity and help things feel connected rather than separated over different days. Staying in the same setting means that only one shoot is needed as there is not a number of locations and different scenes required.

Equipment: The video will be shot on iPhone to maintain authenticity in the video and make it feel real and raw- rather than overproduced and ‘clean.’ This will help the real feeling of the video and make the message at the end harder hitting. I will utilise a tripod to make sure that the camera doesn't fall out of place or move, hurting the continuity of the video.

Location(s): One location which may be available is Echo Youth Theatre in Norwich’s studio as I have contacts which may be able to help acquire this space. This is an old church with a vintage aesthetic which will combine to create a compelling homeless shelter. If this space is not available- I have alternatives including my own house and hiring other spaces such as Bradwell village hall.

Cast:  Members of my family, including my Aunt, Uncle and Cousins play the characters within the video, each representing different social classes. They will be seen interacting in the background to bring the scene to life and make it seem like a real and a busy place.

Props / Costume: Costumes and props including Halloween, Christmas and valentines’ decorations will be ordered to decorate the set with to further create the feeling that the person in the video is celebrating this event and that time is passing as the video goes along. The people playing vagrants have been instructed to wear basic, warm clothing reflecting the season depicted and the workers are wearing more modern and expensive clothing, as they are in a different social group.

This is the first storyboard (pictured above) and the final storyboard (pictured to the left.) These show my first rough draft for how the video will take place, before I rectified and built upon the idea, to reach its best state how it is seen in the video. Pictured below is the script I used for the video,  I created this before the video's recording, but I rectified as we filmed and added extra parts. The main use of this script was for timings to make sure sections were the right length and fit together
