Webpage Draft

Image
This was the original draft for the website. At the time, an album cover hadn't been chosen so I used a photo of a carpark, as I felt it fit the aesthetic of the band being industrial and moody. The original colour scheme was going to be teal and black, however I felt that red and black fit the bands aesthetic much better upon finalizing the design. Aspects seen of purchasing the items and listening to the music I duplicated on the final website, with a space in the middle reserved for the video itself. The top features different pages of the website you can visit as well as social media links.

Storyboards

Image
This is the original story board from the beginning of the planning stage for the music video. This story board served as a rough outline for how I wanted the video to go, with sticky notes outlining extra details and things I wanted to change. This storyboard was drew up the same day I came up with the idea for the video, which spawned from a conversation had with family at a meal. We brainstormed ideas for how to deliver a message in the music video, as this is a method commonly used by bands in the alternative rock genre. This was the rectified story board, after I had done further research and planning and decided how I wanted to film the video. This features multiple of the scenes and how the cuts between scenes will be used. There is notes underneath to give pointers on how each scene should play out and to help with the videos continuity.  This was the sheet used during the filming, used as a script. The sheet features the songs lyrics- with timings on when each scene ...

The Strokes Website analysis

The Strokes Website Analysis- https://www.thestrokes.com/ The strokes use a 2000’s style website, which links to the nostalgia of when the band first burst onto the scene and of the unique charm of old websites. This is a creative approach and allows The Stroke’s website to stand out, much like they did as a band when they changed the rock scene. The uniqueness links to their style as an alternative band who broke out of the grunge scene and make rock less gloomy. The bright blue colour heavily contrasts the more dull tones used in other bands websites- presenting The Strokes as outliers. The different link pages are represented by different icons that would be seen on a computer home screen. Each of the icons leads to a separate part of the website or opens a pop up just like it would on an older desktop. Creating this aesthetic creates a positive band image as people remember how unique and interesting the bands website Is compared to others in the same genre. It he...

The Fratelli's website analysis

The Fratelli’s utilise a dark theme in their website, with this linking to their new and moodier album. This created ambiance on the site and allows you to link these themes of darkness to the band. The black is heavily contrasted by the bright pinks and purples used, which stand out and light the logo of the band up. While the black links to darkness and more depressing themes, the pink is often a playful and fun colour- offering a light at the end of the tunnel and providing fans of the band with glimpses of their trademark playful lyricism. The colour scheme also matches the aesthetics of the new album, which promotes their new release and prompts their fans to listen to their new music or buy the new album. The image is a moody black and white photos of the band members, which overlap over each other- making them look like ghosts. This image creates feelings of mystery and the unknown, as the band steps forward into an unknown future. The Fratelli’s have 48K fo...

Statement of Intent

Statement of Intent In my music video product, a long shot is the main filming technique used. This is in an attempt to give equal attention to the background and the foreground and allow continuity within the video. There is still camera movement, with a pan being used at the end of the video for the reveal at the end. This prevents confusion with the passage of time being apparent, which allows the video to accurately portray jumps in time. My video intends to raise awareness for homelessness and send a powerful message about how some people live their lives, as well as promote my band, ‘Wasted Reverie,’ as being a politically charged band. The main character in the video, played by me, will be mouthing the lyrics of the song which will be edited over the footage. Each change in time is marked by a specific transition which removes any potential confusion, with the set designed to match each holiday which is being celebrated. The video is filmed in a church, this gives the video...

Wunderhorse website analysis

Image
Wunderhorse’s website primarily advertises their new album, ‘Midas,’ on first click. The whole website follows the colour scheme and design of the album. This is done to push sales of the album, as it Is brought immediately to your attention and reminds you as you scroll through. As you scroll, you find tour dates, music videos and merchandise- beginning with the tour dates. This is conventional of a band website, as this is where a large amount of the band’s profits will come from- as well as their most direct form of connection with their audience. Going on world tours allows them to access a larger audience base- as they gain international fans and not exclusively fans from England. The website makes this easier to book tickets, as alternative to third-party websites, as prices are controlled from the band itself. This directness helps to establish closer connections with their fanbase and encourages fandom, as they are inspired to visit the website and check out the other s...

Music Video Plan

Image
Chosen Track: My chosen track is ‘Is This It,’ by the Strokes. I feel this track reflects the mood and theme I am aiming for in the video as the song is slow paced and matches the nature of the video. The chorus of ‘is this it,’ presents a feeling of longing- which reflects the feelings of the music video as it touches on themes such as vagrancy- where these people are desperate for anything they can get.  Projected number of shoots: There will be 1 main shoot for the video- with background props being the variable which is changed in each. By having 1 shoot only- it will keep continuity and help things feel connected rather than separated over different days. Staying in the same setting means that only one shoot is needed as there is not a number of locations and different scenes required.  Equipment: The video will be shot on iPhone to maintain authenticity in the video and make it feel real and raw- rather than overproduced and ‘clean.’ This will help the real fe...
